Russian Sauna and Therapeutic Shungite Hot Tub at Metsakuurort

WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT THE RUSSIAN SAUNA? The Russian sauna is heated up to 65 degrees and the humidity is 65%. The sauna oven has a special system from which, when water is poured onto the sauna rocks, a finely fractionated steam is emitted. The sauna rocks include jadeite, nephrite and white and red quartzite. By lying down on the sauna bench, the body starts to release toxins better and the sweat is cleaned with a sauna whisk made from birch. After the sauna, you can go in the therapeutic shungite hot tub, pour cold water on yourself or take a shower. We offer fermented elk hemp tea so that the sweating starts from the inside and the body is optimally cleansed.

Floating hot water vat on River Vigala

The floating hot water vat is a unique attraction in Estonia. The vat (hot tub) is placed on a 36 m2 raft. The vat is made of PVC marble, it is illuminated, and can accommodate up to 6 people at a time. The vat can be heated with an external wood-burning oven. In rainy weather, you can use an umbrella and two sides can be covered by a wall. There is also a screen for changing clothes. It is possible to rent the vat for a small romantic getaway and as an addition to raft houses. The vat is powered by an engine. The vat is available throughout the year, but we cannot move it in winter.

Laukataguse Holiday Village – Finnish sauna

The sauna made of aspen wood includes a common room, a kitchen corner and accommodation for seven visitors. The private sauna with a terrace, located by a pond, is perfect for hosting birthday parties or barbecues with friends.

Laukataguse Holiday Village, smoke sauna Pärna

The oldest building of the holiday village is a smoke sauna with pine wood walls and a green roof. The sauna is located on the shore of the pond. After going to the steam room for five times, you will be so clean (both inside and outside) that you do not even have to wash yourself. We recommend enjoying the sunset while sitting in front of the sauna or jumping to an ice hole in the winter. It is said that those who have not been to a smoke sauna have not been to a real sauna. We welcome all sauna enthusiasts!

Rapla central square

2018. Rapla’s central square, opened in 2007, is part of the “EV 100” programme, which has resulted in central squares in several other Estonian cities besides Rapla. The central square is covered with concrete slabs on a level surface and features a flag field, a colourful fountain, cycle parking, a playground, seating areas and landscaping.

There is a cosy café called “Hollivuud Lounge” on the central square, and on Thursdays there is an “OTT” (producer-to-consumer) fair.

Octa Centrum

1977. Completed in 2005, the KEK building stands as a monument to Soviet-era architecture. The building resembles a landed UFO.

Interesting to know:

  • Everything in the building is octagonal – the floor plan and even the bins.
  • The octagonal pond, which appears to be a spatial reflection of the house, is effective.
  • The architects of the building are Toomas Rein and Aulo Padar.
  • During the Soviet era, people from all over the Soviet Union visited the special building.
